Discount Bank Announces Merger with Subsidiary Mercantile Bank
Israel Discount Bank announced plans to merge its subsidiary Mercantile Bank to boost operational efficiency, enhance technology investments, and streamline corporate structure.

Discount Bank announced that it will merge its subsidiary, Mercantile Bank, into its operations. The boards of directors of both institutions approved the merger, which remains subject to regulatory approvals.
Strategic Goals and Efficiency
According to the announcement, the merger aims to accelerate the strategic plan led by Discount Group CEO Avi Levy, adapting the group's operational structure to modern technological and business challenges. The move is expected to reduce operational overlap and improve efficiency while leveraging the unique assets of both banks. The process will be led by Mercantile CEO Barak Nardi.
Mercantile will continue to operate as an independent brand, preserving its core areas of specialization. The bank maintains an extensive branch network in the Arab sector and is among the growing financial institutions within the Haredi community, alongside strong activity in small and medium-sized enterprises and local authorities.
Phased Implementation
The integration will be implemented gradually, beginning with the unification of operational systems and processes. Mercantile branches will continue serving clients without immediate changes, while a definitive timeline and workforce impact assessments were not detailed in the initial announcement.
"This step will simplify the group's structure, improve efficiency ratios, and increase the growth potential of the merged bank," stated CEO Avi Levy.
