Texas Governor Greg Abbott stated:
"Today, an Apache helicopter crashed in Bell County during a Fort Hood operation, and two of our service members were killed."
Fort Hood officials confirmed that an AH-64 attack helicopter crashed, resulting in the deaths of two soldiers. Their names have not yet been released, pending notification of their families.
Footage from the crash site shows firefighters examining burning wreckage across a large area of scorched grass, with heavy smoke rising from the scene. Several local firefighting teams were called to contain the blaze.
