Crosses thrown to the floor: St. Anthony's Church in Jaffa vandalized - 20-year-old arrested
A serious act of vandalism was recorded at St. Anthony's Church on Yefet Street. Police officers who arrived at the scene discovered sacred statues that had been knocked over and broken crosses on the floor and chairs. A Jaffa resident in his 20s was arrested on suspicion of the act.
A Jaffa resident in his 20s was arrested last night (between Sunday and Monday) on suspicion of committing a serious act of vandalism and causing extensive damage at St. Anthony's Church on Yefet Street.
The incident occurred on Sunday morning. Following a report regarding the damage, officers from the Jaffa station, along with forensic investigators, arrived quickly at the church to conduct a search for the suspect, examine the scene, and collect evidence.
Inside the church hall, officers observed extensive destruction. Several statues had been knocked to the floor and broken into pieces, and broken crosses were found scattered across the chairs and the floor. The investigation led to the identification of the suspect, a Jaffa resident in his 20s, who was arrested shortly thereafter and transferred to the police station for questioning.
