In the Depths Review: Netflix Delivers a Cold Tale of Ancient Terror
Netflix's thriller series In the Depths follows a remote Canadian fishing village facing a mysterious crisis involving a prehistoric entity, a giant squid, and a massive iceberg.

Dark, freezing waters are once again the source of terror in Netflix's new series "In the Depths". This time, the trouble strikes the shores of a remote Canadian fishing village facing a severe fish shortage and government pressure to relocate.
While residents debate whether to abandon their ancestral homes, local boats begin sinking and fishermen's bodies wash ashore bearing the marks of a predatory beast. A massive iceberg drifts toward the town, and anyone who drinks its melted water descends into a strange madness.
An examination of the iceberg reveals organic cells of a 10,000-year-old entity hidden inside. Meanwhile, a giant squid, long thought to be extinct for millennia, emerges to terrorize the coastal community.
A local fisherman, whose father drowned off those same shores forty years ago, risks his life to venture out to sea. By connecting the clues, he uncovers the singular, chilling truth behind all the bizarre events.
"In the Depths" is a solid, compelling series with a well-crafted plot and straightforward characters who do not overly complicate their inner psychological struggles. Although the finale introduces a few too many villains and frantic developments, it feels fitting for a cold, isolated setting where excessive silence can drive a person mad.
