Blow to Shas in Kiryat Gat: Three List Members Join Achi Party
Two Shas city council members, Ofer Reuven and Shlomi Bitito, along with list member Adv. Nissim Shai Elmakies, have announced their support for the party led by Hida Abergel.
Three members of the Shas list in Kiryat Gat announced this evening, Sunday, their support for the Achi party, led by Hida Abergel.
Among the three are two Shas city council members, Ofer Reuven and Shlomi Bitito, as well as list member Adv. Nissim Shai Elmakies. The three left Shas during a public event and joined the Achi party.
Rabbi Chaim Yosef David Abergel, known as Hida, is a community leader in Netivot and the spiritual leader of the Achi party, which is competing for the votes of those disappointed with Shas. Abergel has been arrested and is suspected of committing serious sex offenses, including indecent acts and sexual harassment against several women, some of whom were minors at the time the offenses were committed.
