Chelsea has announced a major ownership reshuffle as Clearlake Capital agreed to acquire the stakes of Todd Boehly and Mark Walter, taking full control of the club. Boehly, who has served as chairman since the 2022 takeover, will step down from his role. Hansjorg Wyss, part of the original consortium, will remain a minority shareholder.

According to the Financial Times, Boehly and Walter will receive approximately 950 million pounds for their shares, valuing Chelsea at around 5 billion pounds including debt. Clearlake previously held 61.5% of the club, while Boehly and Walter each held about 12.8%. The deal resolves a long period of internal tensions within the ownership group.

"It has been an honor to serve as chairman of Chelsea," Boehly said. "I want to thank everyone who helped secure a bright future for the club. I am confident that Chelsea is in a strong position to continue succeeding under Clearlake's leadership."

Clearlake co-founders Behdad Eghbali and Jose Feliciano thanked Boehly and stressed that the focus remains on investing in infrastructure, player development, and sporting success. The club emphasized that the change in ownership will not impact daily operations or strategy.
