Clalit Invests 400 Million Shekels in New Logistics Center in Beersheba
Clalit Health Services is investing 400 million shekels to build a new logistics center in Beersheba, aiming to secure medical supplies for southern hospitals and clinics during emergencies.
Clalit Health Services is set to establish a new logistics center in Beersheba with an estimated investment of approximately 400 million shekels. The facility will supply medications and medical equipment to Clalit hospitals, clinics, and pharmacies across southern Israel, strengthening supply resilience during both routine periods and emergencies.
Spanning roughly 23 dunams, the complex will feature about 27,500 square meters of above-ground built space equipped with automated inventory management, picking, and distribution systems. Clalit stated that the center is engineered to meet the organization's long-term storage and logistics requirements.
The new hub will deliver supplies directly to Soroka Medical Center in Beersheba and Yoseftel Hospital in Eilat, alongside hundreds of community clinics and pharmacies in the south. Following its launch, Clalit will operate three primary logistics centers nationwide, complementing existing facilities in Shoham and Haifa.
Clalit explained that the decision to build an independent southern logistics arm stems partly from wartime lessons regarding potential disruptions in medical supply chains caused by infrastructure damage or blocked transport routes. The facility will maintain regional medical stockpiles to reduce reliance on central Israel.
According to Clalit, automated systems will enable precise inventory tracking, faster delivery times, and operational efficiency. The project forms part of a broader strategy to expand southern infrastructure amid growing membership and activity in the region.
The project is expected to generate over 100 jobs in pharmacy, administration, and operations. Beersheba Mayor Ruvik Danilovich noted that the municipality advanced the initiative over the past two years to ensure vital medical resources for southern residents.
