A 22-year-old woman from southern Israel has filed a medical malpractice lawsuit of up to 2.5 million shekels against Clalit Health Services and a plastic surgeon at Clalit Aesthetic, alleging that botched breast reduction and lift procedures left her disfigured and psychologically distressed.

The lawsuit, filed at the Tel Aviv Magistrates' Court through Attorney Ran Shapira, states that the young woman underwent an initial surgery after a consultation with a specialist who noted her breasts were large and pendulous but symmetrical. According to the claim, the recovery was arduous, involving significant pain and steroid injections for a scar on her left breast. Once healed, she noticed her nipples were positioned too high while her breasts remained sagging, a discrepancy documented in the medical records.

The surgeon recommended a corrective procedure, which the patient underwent. However, the plaintiff claims the second recovery was even more painful, and the initial improvements quickly faded, leaving her with severe asymmetry, wide scars, and persistent tissue sagging. Dr. Ofer Friedman, a plastic and reconstructive surgery expert who examined the plaintiff, stated in his opinion that critical planning and measurement errors during the first surgery caused the deformities, and the corrective operation failed to resolve the issues while adding extensive scarring.

The plaintiff asserts that the botched surgeries severely impacted her quality of life, damaging her self-esteem and intimate relationships. Dr. Sergio Marchevsky, a psychiatric expert, assessed her with an adjustment disorder linked to the ordeal. The combined medical and psychiatric evaluations placed her composite disability rating at 23.5%. The lawsuit seeks compensation for medical expenses, future corrective surgery estimated at 80,000 to 120,000 shekels, pain and suffering, and loss of earning capacity. Clalit Aesthetic stated in response that it takes all complaints regarding medical care seriously and is currently reviewing the details of the lawsuit.
