"It's a scary situation, there was panic from everyone": Skazi on the nightmare landing in Athens
A malfunction in the wheels forced the plane carrying the 51-year-old DJ to make an emergency landing in Athens instead of Mykonos, and from there things only escalated: the Israeli passengers were forced to remain on the plane, while the pilot threatened to call the police. "People were going crazy."
Skazi found himself today (Tuesday) in an unexpected incident that ended after six hours, which he now defines as a scary situation. The 51-year-old DJ, who was with his personal manager, planned to land in Mykonos to play at a club there tonight, but the flight took a turn following a severe technical malfunction in the front wheel.
The plane canceled the landing in Mykonos at the last moment and was forced to make an emergency landing at the airport in Athens. Fire trucks and ambulances were waiting on the runway, while the passengers were not allowed to disembark and the pilot threatened them over the intercom:
"Seriously, you need to pay attention to what we are telling you. The flight attendant is still asking you to sit. We need to clear the runway because we are on the runway - we cannot do it ourselves, we need a tow truck. This procedure takes all the responsibility off us and you. If you, with your behavior, continue to occupy us, we will not leave here. So please, this is the last time I am asking you, and listen carefully: stay in your seats. Otherwise, I will call the police after we reach the parking position."
In a story he uploaded to his Instagram account, Skazi, who last April revealed that he and his wife Shir (30) were expecting their third child, detailed: "We got on a 9 AM flight to Mykonos, the plane was coming in to land, a wheel malfunction, I know in hindsight. Landing in Athens, now we are in Athens. It was scary, I admit, people were going crazy. It's scary."
The DJ, who spent time on the plane from 09:00 AM until 15:00, added: "But there was a flight attendant there, a great guy, cute, operated everything as it should be. Honestly, it was fine. Overall a scary situation, although there was panic from everyone there, especially from the pilots, but there was one flight attendant there who saved the situation, an Israeli."
In a conversation with mako he says: "There was a malfunction in the plane and we had to make an emergency landing in Athens. The flight was to Mykonos and we are still in Athens. I can say it was scary. In hindsight, it was handled okay, but it was scary until the last moment. Until we stepped on the ground in Athens. Also, all this time we stood on the runway, it was a stressful part."
