Nightmare in flight: Passengers waited in extreme heat — some fainted and vomited

This summer has been scorching, and surviving it without air conditioning is a daunting task, especially in a confined space. This is exactly what passengers on Ryanair flight FR7268 from Malta to Birmingham experienced, with shocking results. The flight was scheduled for August 10 at 17:40 but did not depart until around 19:00.

The airline attributed the delay to a "minor technical fault" and a passenger falling ill on board. However, the wait to board the aircraft turned into a nightmare as passengers struggled to cope with the extreme heat.

16-year-old Eva Gregory reported that she and her family spent half an hour on a bus without air conditioning before being moved to another, where the cooling system was only partially functional. This was followed by a 20-minute wait on the tarmac in the scorching heat before they were allowed to board the plane, which had not been cooled.

"When we got on the plane, it was clear that the air conditioning was not working. It was like walking into extreme heat. We sat in the heat with no air conditioning at all for more than an hour. Everyone was very upset. People took off their shirts, two fainted, and I'm not sure how many vomited," Eva shared.

According to her, the crew did not offer water even to those in medical distress. Ryanair representatives stated that passengers were on the bus for only ten minutes with the air conditioning active and that the onboard bar was open for purchasing drinks.

Eva noted that the flight crew tried to prevent boarding until the issue was resolved, but their instructions were ignored, leaving them to deal with the passengers' anger. The air conditioning only began to function after takeoff, but by then, many were already in distress. A video shared online confirms the accounts, showing panic in the cabin as the crew attended to those who had collapsed.
