A consumer has filed an expanded class-action lawsuit requesting evidence addition against Carrefour Israel, alleging that over 700 expired products were discovered across dozens of branches. This follows an initial lawsuit filed four months ago claiming 1,000 expired items were found in 56 visits across 35 stores.

The applicant, consumer Noam Habusha, represented by attorney Roy Becher from the firm Yehuda, Becher & Co., submitted the motion to the Central District Court. According to the new filing, 44 additional visits were conducted—bringing the total to 100—during which more than 700 extra expired items were documented on Carrefour shelves in 40 new branches and four previously mentioned locations.

Among the alarming findings are expired infant formula products, including Matana Stage 1 expired by 17 days found at the Carrefour Auditorium Haifa branch, as well as Matana Stage 3 and Similac. The oldest product was identified at the Carrefour branch in Modi'in, where an olive oil bottle was found expired by 369 days. Similar expired olive oil bottles were discovered in Yavne, and meat products past their expiration date were found in Beit She'an.

Carrefour strongly opposed the motion, calling it an improper attempt to patch up a flawed evidentiary framework. Carrefour stated: "Carrefour operates in accordance with the law and attaches paramount importance to public health and the quality and safety of its products. The findings have not been forwarded to the company, and its response will be provided within the framework of the legal proceedings."
