A major political and legal showdown erupted in Israel as the 2026 election campaign intensifies, following a legal warning letter sent by the Brothers in Arms organization to Attorney Ilan Bombach, who represents the Likud party on the Central Election Committee.

The Controversial Video and False Claims

The dispute centers around a video interview published on Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's official X account. In the footage, Bombach alleged that members of Brothers in Arms and Kaplan Force openly stated their intention to disrupt elections, face arrest, prevent citizens from voting, and interfere with the counting of double envelopes.

Brothers in Arms firmly rejected these allegations through their legal counsel, attorney Amit Mor, describing the claims as entirely baseless fabrication.

"Our organization has never declared or stated what you attribute to it, and there is no basis whatsoever for presenting it as intending to interfere with elections or harm their integrity," the letter stated.

Preparing the Ground to Challenge Election Results

The organization argued that Bombach's comments carry extra weight given his public and legal status as deputy chairman of the Central Election Committee. Furthermore, Brothers in Arms claimed that the allegations are part of a calculated political strategy designed to delegitimize the upcoming democratic process.

According to the group, painting activists as saboteurs is a deliberate attempt to lay the groundwork for questioning the election results in advance.

Demands for Removal and Apology

Given the massive reach of the Prime Minister's account, which boasts over 4.4 million followers, Brothers in Arms issued a strict 12-hour ultimatum demanding the following actions:

  • Complete removal of the video from all digital platforms belonging to the Prime Minister, the Likud party, and associated entities.

  • Publication of an explicit written apology across the same platforms clarifying that the statements were false and baseless.

The organization noted that if these demands are met within the specified timeframe, they will waive financial compensation claims. Otherwise, legal action will be pursued immediately.
