Tzachi Braverman Threatens Legal Action Over Campaign Poster
Tzachi Braverman, the former chief of staff to Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, is threatening legal action against Gadi Eisenkot, leader of the "Yashar!" party. The dispute arises from an election campaign poster featuring Braverman alongside Netanyahu and aide Jonathan Urich against the backdrop of the Qatari flag. In a formal warning letter sent on Thursday, Braverman demanded the immediate removal of the materials, a public apology, and at least 500,000 shekels in damages if his demands are ignored.
The controversial campaign, bearing the slogan "On 27.10 we decide: It's either Yashar! or Qatar," was displayed on a billboard on the facade of the Leonardo Plaza Hotel, part of Fattal Hotels. Legal notices were sent to Eisenkot, his party, Fattal Hotels, and Mega Media Ltd.
Legal Arguments and Demands for Retraction
Represented by attorney Uriel Nizari, Braverman argued that linking his image to the Qatari flag creates a false impression of ties or collusion with a foreign state. The letter stresses that Braverman is a civil servant, not a political figure, and takes no part in the upcoming elections.
"My client is a civil servant, not a political figure and does not take part in the election campaign. This is a complete lie, a wicked fabrication, and a blood libel from top to bottom," the letter stated.
The letter demands that all billboards, social media posts, and sponsored ads featuring the image be removed within 24 hours. Furthermore, Braverman is seeking financial compensation of 175,000 shekels per publication from each entity involved, warning of a major lawsuit if compliance is not met.
