Boy George Performs in Tel Aviv and Reaffirms Support for Israel
80s pop star Boy George performed at Tel Aviv's Menora Arena, delighting fans with classic hits and reaffirming his unwavering vocal support for Israel amid international artistic boycotts.

Boy George, the iconic 1980s pop star and Culture Club frontman, took the stage at the Menora Mivtachim Arena in Tel Aviv to perform before an enthusiastic crowd drawn as much by nostalgic hits like Do You Really Want to Hurt Me and Karma Chameleon as by his outspoken and unwavering support for Israel during a period when international concert tours in the country are virtually non-existent.
Dressed in a dazzling, sequin-adorned suit, the British artist greeted the audience with a warm "Shalom" in Hebrew. He shared his moving experience of visiting the Western Wall earlier in the day before launching into a powerful rendition of Prince's classic anthem, Purple Rain.
A Vocal Supporter Amid Controversy
This marks Boy George's return to Israel following a previous tour with Culture Club in 2017. Despite escalating international criticism and artistic boycotts surrounding the ongoing conflict, the singer has firmly refused to cancel his appearances, emerging as a prominent pro-Israel voice in the British music community and standing in stark contrast to outspoken critics like Roger Waters.
His dedication to the region recently sparked controversy in July when he released a pro-Israel single titled We Will Dance Again, partially composed using artificial intelligence tools. While the music platform Bandcamp removed the track over AI generation policies, George defended the release, emphasizing that he personally wrote the core lyrics and melody for the project alongside his timeless 1980s catalog.
