Kansas Man Arrested in Florida Over Antisemitic Death Threats Against Ben Shapiro
A Kansas man was arrested in Florida for allegedly posting antisemitic death threats against conservative commentator Ben Shapiro, featuring a countdown to Yom Kippur.
A 29-year-old Kansas man, Corby Aaron Strove, was arrested in Florida on charges of posting a series of antisemitic threats to murder prominent conservative commentator Ben Shapiro, including a countdown targeting Yom Kippur. He was booked into the Palm Beach County jail.
Charges and Investigation
According to court documents, investigators found probable cause to prosecute Strove on 23 counts of making written or electronic threats to kill or do bodily injury. Prosecutors are seeking hate crime enhancements due to the alleged antisemitic motivation.
The posts were reportedly published between July 31 and August 2 on an X account that has since been deleted. The threats included explicit references to Shapiro's Jewish heritage and antisemitic rhetoric. Shapiro, who resides in Boca Raton, Florida, told investigators that his head of security alerted him after intelligence personnel flagged the posts.
The countdown made the threats particularly severe because it appeared to indicate planning for a specific date—Yom Kippur.
Digital Footprint and Additional Threats
Investigators tracked Strove down using information provided by X, Google, and satellite internet provider Starlink. On August 4, a U.S. Secret Service agent and a local police officer visited his residence as part of a separate investigation into threats made against President Donald Trump.
According to the affidavit, Strove confessed that the three X accounts in question belonged to him and that he had published the messages. The accounts also contained threats directed at Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and podcaster Joe Rogan.
Context of Political Violence
Shapiro, 42, is a leading voice on the American conservative right, a co-founder of The Daily Wire, and the host of The Ben Shapiro Show. His YouTube channel boasts approximately 7 million subscribers and 4.8 billion views. He has traveled with 24/7 security for roughly a decade due to frequent protests and security concerns at campus speaking engagements.
The threats arrive amid heightened anxiety over political violence in the United States, following the fatal shooting of Turning Point USA founder Charlie Kirk on September 10, 2025, during a speaking event in Utah. Kirk was a close friend of Shapiro, who subsequently spoke out about the escalating dangers facing conservative public figures.
