Beit Shemesh Man Indicted for Attempted Murder of Ex-Wife's Partner
The Jerusalem District Court indicted Eliran Salmi from Beit Shemesh for the attempted murder of his ex-wife's partner, after stabbing him five times.
The State Attorney's Office filed an indictment on Tuesday in the Jerusalem District Court against Eliran Salmi, a resident of Beit Shemesh, for the attempted murder of his ex-wife's partner. According to the indictment, Salmi stabbed the victim five times in the chest and back, severely injuring him.
The defendant and his ex-wife divorced about two years ago, after which she began a relationship with another man. Despite her requests, Salmi went to her home shortly after completing a 13-month prison sentence for threats and assault against her and the victim. On August 30, he waited outside her residence, approached the victim, and threatened him, asking if he was not afraid to die.
Approximately an hour later, Salmi returned to the home armed with a kitchen knife, climbed onto a nearby roof, put on gloves, and entered despite the ex-wife's pleas. He attacked the victim in the kitchen, shouting at him to die while stabbing him multiple times and biting his ear. The victim managed to overpower his hand, and a neighbor subsequently intervened and took the knife.
The victim sustained stab wounds to the chest and back, as well as a fractured collarbone, and was evacuated to a hospital for surgery. The prosecution requested to extend his detention until the conclusion of the legal proceedings.
