Israeli athlete Omer Barel, who was wounded during the Iron Swords War and underwent a lengthy rehabilitation process after losing his arm, won the silver medal today (Sunday) at the Paralympic Taekwondo World Cup in Switzerland.
Barel, who only took up the sport at the beginning of 2026, started the competition with an impressive victory over an opponent from France, securing his first-ever spot in an international final. In the gold medal match, he faced a competitor from Turkey, put on an excellent performance, and finished in second place. This represents a major milestone for Barel, marking his first international victory and his first final appearance, showcasing his rapid progress and immense future potential.
