Barak Abramov takes a hit: will pay hundreds of thousands of shekels in compensation
Barak Abramov suffers a financial blow: The Supreme Court of the Football Association ruled that Beitar Jerusalem will pay the previously determined compensation, after rejecting the appeal of F.C. Ashdod, which had demanded 1.1 million shekels. According to the decision, Beitar Jerusalem will be forced to pay 450,000 shekels.
Barak Abramov, the controlling shareholder of the Japanika chain and the Beitar Jerusalem football club, became embroiled in a criminal conflict that led to attacks on the restaurant chain's branches, causing him severe financial and business damage following extortion events and the postponement of IPO plans due to these incidents.
Now, as the drama surrounding businessman Barak Abramov continues, he is experiencing another financial blow, this time regarding the football club he owns, Beitar Jerusalem. Today it was ruled that the club must pay compensation to F.C. Ashdod following the Noam Muche affair.
The Supreme Court of the Football Association rejected on Tuesday the appeal of F.C. Ashdod regarding the amount of the training compensation fee that Beitar Jerusalem will pay for Noam Muche.
This means that Beitar will pay the amount determined less than a month ago, 450,000 shekels, to the club, which is currently playing in the National League. As recalled, on July 16, Ashdod appealed to the Committee for the Status of the Player with a demand that Beitar pay 1.1 million shekels as compensation for Muche, but the committee ruled for a much lower amount.
Ashdod argued in its appeal that the decision should be canceled, claiming that it was determined by a single judge rather than three, and also that there was a misinterpretation of the registration regulations. According to their claim, it is not possible to apply the regulatory provision regarding minimum compensation when the approval of the Budget Control Authority regarding the existence of guarantees was not presented.
The court, in a hearing held before three judges—presiding judge Prof. Miguel Deutsch, Prof. Yaniv Vaki, and Adv. David Yahav—decided to reject the petition.
"We accept the argument of the Association, with its reasoning, that there is no room to intervene in the way the judge related to the fact that Beitar Jerusalem did not attach the conditions agreed upon between it and the player," the judges ruled.
Meanwhile, with the rejection of the appeal, the determined amount remains in place, and Beitar Jerusalem will pay F.C. Ashdod 450,000 shekels for Noam Muche.
