"Above the clouds": Children from the northern front line took off for a special flight in the skies of the Galilee
The "Ananim - Aviation for the Community" association gave children who were evacuated from their homes an hour of respite in the skies - a moment of hope, empowerment, and a smile.
Taking off above the clouds, to forget, if only for a moment, the challenges below. The "Ananim - Aviation for the Community" association held a unique flight this week for children from the northern border line, who were evacuated from their homes following the war. The children were treated to a flight over the breathtaking landscapes of the Upper Galilee - an experience that gave them a respite, empowerment, and a boost in spirits.
The event took place at the Rosh Pinna airstrip, in the presence of the CEO of the Upper Galilee Council, and at the initiative of Erez Bergman, chairman of Misgav Am. The flight was led by the chairman of the Ananim association, pilot Shai Shimon, together with former deputy squadron commander Itai Turner and a team of other volunteer pilots.
For the children, who carry the hardships of the fighting on their shoulders, it was a moment of pure joy.
"Seeing them smile in the sky, forgetting the difficulty for a moment - that is the meaning of our work," the volunteers said.
Shai Shimon, chairman of the "Ananim" association and pilot of the flight, stated:
"We at the 'Ananim' association have been working as volunteers for years, flying in the skies of the country for the community. This flight for the children of the confrontation line is a moment of Israeli pride from a bird's-eye view. Our ability to provide a unique experience to children who were evacuated from their homes, and to contribute even a little to the war effort, is very moving and strengthens us. Allowing children to 'touch the sky', to make them forget the challenges of the hour for a moment and to see their smile - this is a tremendous feeling of satisfaction."
