National Insurance Institute: Special education grant is on its way

Ahead of the 2026/2027 school year, the National Insurance Institute announced that the annual education grant will be transferred to eligible individuals on August 11. The grant amount this year is 1,204 NIS per child, an increase from the 1,176 NIS provided in the previous school year.

The Institute stated in a social media post: "The National Insurance education grant is on its way to you!" Payments will be transferred directly to the recipients' bank accounts.

The grant is intended for:

1. Single parents (divorced, separated, widowed, or single) for children born between January 1, 2009, and December 31, 2020.

2. Families with 4 or more children under the age of 18, born within the same period, provided the family receives a qualifying benefit such as general disability allowance, income support, alimony, or survivor's pension.

The purpose of the grant is to assist families with expenses related to the start of the school year, including textbooks, supplies, and clothing.

The Institute is currently sending notices to insured persons for eligibility verification. Only those who receive an official letter or SMS are required to complete a declaration on the website.

In most cases, the grant is paid automatically to the bank account where child allowance is deposited. If a child was born outside the specified date range but is currently in 1st or 12th grade, eligibility may be reviewed individually upon submission of a school attendance certificate.

Certain individuals, including first-time recipients and new immigrants, must submit a formal application with required documentation. Claims can be submitted within 18 months from the date of eligibility.

The Institute requests that recipients wait until August 12 before contacting branches regarding the status of their payment. Individuals can verify their eligibility on the Institute's website.
