National Insurance Institute: Urgent Update on Branch Operations Until September 2
The National Insurance Institute has announced a temporary suspension of in-person services nationwide. Here is what you need to know about benefit payments and digital access during this period.
The National Insurance Institute, which distributes monthly grants and benefits to eligible Israelis, issued an important announcement on Monday, August 17, stating that all its branches across Israel will be closed for public reception from August 19 to September 2.
In an official statement, the Institute noted:
"Our branches are taking a short break from public reception, but we continue to operate. Between August 19 and September 2, branches will be closed for walk-in services, but please note that remote service continues: you can still access information and perform various actions via our website, call center, and digital channels during this period."
In recent days, questions arose regarding whether the Institute would advance the payment of long-term benefits in August, as the standard payment date of August 28 falls on a Friday this year. Rumors regarding early payments had caused confusion among recipients.
Following these inquiries, the National Insurance Institute confirmed on its website that long-term benefits for this month will be paid on time, on Friday, August 28, with no early disbursement. Benefits to be paid on this date include general disability, old-age, survivor, disabled child, special services, mobility, work injury, alimony, rehabilitation, nursing, and Prisoners of Zion benefits. Monthly child benefits will be paid on their regular date, August 20, 2026.
