The famous Israeli television creator Assi Azar, known for the hit series "Baker and the Beauty" ("Lihiyot Ita"), is currently working on a brand-new television project. To focus on his writing away from daily distractions, he packed his bags and flew abroad, seeking inspiration.

However, instead of a creative spark, Azar found himself facing a complex emotional crisis. In an honest and vulnerable post on his secondary Instagram account, he shared with his followers a prolonged anxiety attack he experienced while working overseas.

Overcoming Creative Block in Barcelona

"I thought it would be nice to share with you that I've had a so-so 48 hours," Azar opened his post with complete openness. He explained that the sudden anxiety was triggered by a severe writer's block. He had traveled to Barcelona to attend a wedding and decided to extend his stay to escape routine and finish writing the sixth and penultimate episode of his new project. But the moment he sat down at his laptop, he felt entirely blocked.

"Little by little, the anxiety flooded me. Heart palpitations, and what will be, and why did I come here, and why isn't this working and why am I failing," he honestly recalled.

Despite the intense internal pressure and the brain's instinct to force the work, Azar realized he needed to stop the rolling snowballed effect. He closed the computer, went out for a walk, ate at a restaurant, and the next morning decided to completely disconnect from work to hit a workout.

Finding Solutions and Moving Forward

Only by noon, when he felt his stomach settle and his breathing ease, did he sit down to try writing again. Alongside this, he consulted a close friend familiar with the series to help unblock the creative flow.

Explaining why he chose to reveal the behind-the-scenes drama, Azar noted that in moments of anxiety, if you don't catch it in time, you plunge deeper and deeper. He advised anyone experiencing similar feelings to go against the instinct of staying put and drowning in it, and instead just stop everything and take a break.

Ultimately, the methodical pause and healthy coping mechanism paid off for the creator, who concluded his turbulent couple of days on an optimistic note.
