Yaakov Asher Slams Gadi Eisenkot Over Haredi Enlistment Stance
MK Yaakov Asher criticized Yashar! leader Gadi Eisenkot over his tough stance on ultra-orthodox military enlistment, stating their recent political talks would have collapsed instantly if those views were voiced.

The head of United Torah Judaism, MK Yaakov Asher, sharply criticized Yashar! party leader Gadi Eisenkot on Wednesday over his hardline stance on ultra-orthodox military enlistment.
Speaking at a Manufacturers Association conference, Asher remarked that had Eisenkot spoken the way he did in a recent interview during a lengthy 40-minute meeting with a senior Haredi official, the talks would have ended in just four minutes.
Asher's remarks followed Eisenkot's interview on 103FM, where he vowed to be the toughest politician on the draft law and stated he would rather trigger another election than compromise.
Asher also criticized proposed sanctions against the ultra-orthodox community, comparing the approach to the legal protections afforded to the families of terrorists against collective punishment.
Eisenkot's past meeting with Moshe Gafni sparked considerable controversy within the opposition camp months ago. Asher assumed leadership of Degel HaTorah following recent political realignments.
