Scam in the north: 54-year-old woman accused of stealing from elderly in their homes during "medical treatment"
A Haifa resident is accused of a series of fraud and theft offenses against the elderly, after entering their homes and posing as a medical professional. The investigation was opened following a complaint from a Holocaust survivor whose credit card was stolen, and led to the discovery of additional victims.
An indictment was filed against Liora Lior Nativ Strasberg, a 54-year-old resident of Haifa, who is accused of committing serious fraud and property offenses against the elderly, including a Holocaust survivor in her 90s.
The investigation at the Haifa station was opened following the complaint of the Holocaust survivor, who reported that she had fallen victim to fraud. The investigation revealed that the defendant stole the elderly woman's credit card during a shared trip. Subsequently, the defendant arrived at the homes of other elderly people in the area under the pretext of performing "medical examinations," took advantage of their vulnerability, stole property, and made various purchases using the credit card for a total amount of thousands of shekels.
Following the police's appeal to the public to locate additional victims, several more complaints were filed against the suspect. During the investigation, another outrageous fact was revealed: while committing the offenses, the defendant was under the supervision of an electronic tag, which she systematically violated in order to carry out the scams. Now, an indictment has been filed against her, in addition to a request for detention until the end of the proceedings.
