After 917 days: The moving gesture of Israeli students for Haymanot Kasau
Against the backdrop of the Shin Bet joining the search efforts for Haymanot Kasau, hundreds of students and teachers in Migdal HaEmek opened the school year with a powerful event that deeply moved the mayor.
The opening of the school year at the Campus Si school in Migdal HaEmek took on a particularly moral, social, and emotional aspect this year. Alongside the familiar excitement of meeting classmates and returning to classrooms, the school chose to pause its daily routine and dedicate a ceremony of mutual responsibility and humanity to the missing girl, Haymanot Kasau.
At the request of the girl's family, hundreds of students, teachers, and staff gathered in the school courtyard. The students released red balloons into the air as a symbol of hope for her discovery, and the sky filled with red dots while a joint, painful, and unified prayer was recited for her quick and safe return to the arms of her family.
Mayor Yaki Ben Haim, who closely followed the event, sought to strengthen the family:
"I was moved to the depths of my soul to see the students of Campus Si rallying together for such a sacred and important cause. The entire city of Migdal HaEmek embraces the Kasau family and supports them incessantly. We are together carrying a pure and faith-filled prayer for the quick return of Haymanot home in peace, and we will not stop being an enveloping, supporting, and loving community for her."
The event took place against the backdrop of extensive search efforts reaching the top of the state. President of Israel Isaac Herzog spoke with the family members and updated them that he had spoken with the head of the Shin Bet, David Zini, who confirmed that the organization had entered the picture following a request from the Israel Police. The President added that the Shin Bet is involved in the case and is acting "with full force" to contribute to the discovery of Haymanot in a joint effort by the police and the Shin Bet.
