After 4 murders in 24 hours: Night operation against criminal organizations in Nazareth - 10 arrested

Dozens of police officers and Border Police fighters operated tonight (between Thursday and Friday) in Nazareth as part of an operation intended to stop the cycle of shooting and murder in the city, after 4 people were murdered in one day. 10 suspects involved in criminal activity and affiliated with criminal organizations were arrested. During the activity, a pistol, a fragmentation grenade, and other weaponry items were seized.

The forces raided several compounds belonging to criminal gangs in the city. In several cases, the criminals tried to escape from the police, but were arrested after a foot chase. The police stated that the seizure of the weaponry prevented their use as part of the ongoing conflict between the gangs.

The activity comes against the backdrop of an outbreak of shooting and violence incidents in Nazareth between criminal gangs. During the last two days, dozens of police officers and Border Police fighters were directed to the city for focused activity against those involved.

The previous night, more than 20 suspects were arrested in the city, including the brother of one of the murder victims. Their detention was extended yesterday in court.

The police stated that in the last year, the police operated in Nazareth with greater intensity and succeeded in bringing about the imprisonment of the heads of the local criminal organization "Bakri".

"The internal struggle of local criminal gangs will be met with power and uncompromising determination, in order to maintain the security and safety of the citizens," it was stated.
