Anthropic Launches Claude Fable 5.1 and Mythos 5.1
Anthropic has unveiled its new Claude Fable 5.1 and Claude Mythos 5.1 models. The company claims these are the world's most advanced models for programming and other complex tasks, offering significant cost reductions.

It is time to review your token budget, as Anthropic has unveiled Claude Fable 5.1 and Claude Mythos 5.1. The company claims these are the most advanced models in the world for programming and other complex tasks.
Economic Efficiency
Anthropic explains that Fable 5.1 and Mythos 5.1 are identical models, but with different levels of protection. Mythos is available only through a secure partner program, while Fable is accessible for general use. According to company estimates, usage costs for Fable 5.1 will be 25% lower compared to Fable 5, driven by a 75% reduction in pricing for Cache reads—processes where the model re-reads previously processed and stored information. For AI agent workflows, the company claims savings can reach up to 45%.
For Enterprise customers, a new system called Enterprise Frontier Safeguards (EFS) will be available later this year. It will store organizational data within the client's own cloud environment rather than Anthropic's. Furthermore, the company has improved protection mechanisms, resulting in 60% fewer false positives when the system evaluates compliance with terms of use. Additionally, Fable 5.1 is capable of running autonomous tasks for longer consecutive hours without losing its objective.
Scientific Breakthroughs
Anthropic has also announced a new program in the field of biology, granting scientists access to Mythos 5.1. Developed in coordination with the US government, the program aims to leverage the model's capabilities. According to the company, the new Mythos has successfully optimized machine learning (ML) models by writing code adapted for GPUs, accelerating biological calculation processes by up to 2.5 times. In another instance, it designed proteins with an efficiency level 10 times higher than previous records, achieving a 50% success rate, which could aid drug development. Additionally, Fable created a high-resolution elevation map for a third of the planet Venus, based on decades-old NASA radar data, achieving a detail level of 2-3 kilometers compared to 10-20 kilometers previously.
Claude Fable 5.1 is available now at a price of $10 per million input tokens and $50 per million output tokens. Mythos remains restricted to select American organizations and scientists, though Anthropic is working with the US government to expand access to more parties, including international partners.
