Globes Publisher Alona Bar On Highlights Rising Financial Power of Women at Tel Aviv Summit
Globes publisher Alona Bar On announced at the "Next Gen Female Investors" conference in Tel Aviv that women's global wealth and financial confidence are surging toward 2030 projections.
Globes publisher Alona Bar On opened the "Next Gen Female Investors" conference in Tel Aviv on Monday, presenting McKinsey data showing women control a growing share of global financial wealth.
"I was pleasantly surprised," Bar On stated. "When examining the share of women holding at least $100,000 in investable assets globally, the figure stood at 32% in 2018, rose to 34% in 2023, and is projected to reach 39% by 2030." Europe demonstrates the most dramatic shift, with female wealth holders expected to surge from one-third in 2018 to 47% by the end of the decade.
Growing Financial Confidence
McKinsey data also tracked European women's confidence in financial decision-making, which jumped from 45% in 2018 to 67% in 2023. "This 22% surge in financial self-assurance over five years is precisely why we fought to hold such a conference," Bar On noted.
Reflecting on her own career in mergers and acquisitions, Bar On recalled entering male-dominated spaces where female peers were scarce. She highlighted the transformational impact of industry leaders like former Bank Leumi CEO Galia Maor, demonstrating how corporate leadership landscapes are gradually evolving.
Globes Leadership and Growth
Turning to the financial media sector, Bar On shared internal statistics for Globes, noting that since 2018, the publication has been 100% female-owned. Women currently hold approximately 70% of senior management positions and 60% of the top ten highest-earning roles.
"These are the years Globes transitioned to profitability following a significant content and financial turnaround, currently leading in website views compared to two major competitors," Bar On emphasized.
Concluding the event, Bar On stressed the vital role of financial literacy and economic journalism, gifting all conference participants a free month-long digital subscription to Globes while wishing attendees double-digit returns on their investments.
