Al-Hayya and Dahlan met in Cairo and discussed "ending the monopoly" in Palestinian leadership
The two discussed "formulating a comprehensive strategy for the Palestinian issue" and advancing the second phase of the ceasefire. In addition, the meeting discussed increasing humanitarian aid to the Gaza Strip against the backdrop of talks with mediators.
A Hamas leadership delegation led by Khalil al-Hayya met in Cairo over the last 24 hours with a delegation of the "Democratic Current in Fatah" led by Mohammed Dahlan, the terrorist organization announced.
The meeting between the parties addressed all political developments and events in the Palestinian arena. The progress of negotiations and discussions that led to an agreement on the roadmap for implementing the second phase of the ceasefire were also reviewed.
The parties discussed meetings with mediators and Arab participants in the agreement in Egypt over the last two days. This includes meetings with the head of Egyptian intelligence, Hassan Rashad, and American advisor Jared Kushner.
Against this backdrop, Hamas emphasized that all efforts must be exerted at various levels to ensure that Israel complies with all agreed-upon understandings.
The meeting between Dahlan and al-Hayya also addressed ways to provide additional supplies and aid to the Gaza Strip while ensuring humanitarian needs. Furthermore, both delegations discussed in depth the developments in the Palestinian arena and ways to reorganize the Palestinian system.
According to the Hamas statement, this includes:
"Ending the monopoly on national decision-making and formulating a comprehensive strategy to deal with challenges and promote the Palestinian issue."
In other words, the delegations discussed cooperation against the Palestinian Authority and the PLO, which are under the control of Mahmoud Abbas / Abu Mazen.
