Bill Ackman, the billionaire founder and CEO of hedge fund Pershing Square, has criticized the Federal Reserve's decision to raise US interest rates to 4%. In a post on X, Ackman argued that higher rates might actually fuel inflation rather than curb it.

Ackman argued that traditional models may fail in the current paradigm, noting that soaring demand for AI and energy is largely impervious to borrowing costs. Because winning the race for superintelligence offers a near-infinite return on investment, computing power demand will remain staggering.

Consequently, the billionaire warned that higher rates could trigger a feedback loop of rising prices, forcing the central bank into further hikes. Inflation in the United States currently stands at 3.4%.
