At 57 - The beloved singer reveals in tears: The dream of being a mother and the financial difficulty
After decades on stage, Etti Levi reveals in tears the painful confession about the opportunity she missed, and reveals why her financial situation prevented her from fulfilling her biggest dream.
The singer Etti Levi, twin sister of the creator and singer Zehava Ben, has been active in the Mizrahi music industry since 1992. Throughout her career, she became famous for hits like "At Lo Hi" ("You are not her"). In 2011, she participated in the first season of the docu-reality series "Living in La La Land", broadcast on the yes channel.
The veteran singer was a guest on the podcast "Hakol Patuach" ("Everything is open") by Avi Shushan, where she revealed in tears that she missed the opportunity to become a mother.
"I missed the train to be a mother and I regret it. It is sad," said Levi in tears.
Shushan, who listened carefully to the singer's painful confession, asked when she first realized that she would not be able to become a mother. "I was 38, my mother was still alive. I remember her words: 'Even if you don't get married, at least bring a child.' I answered her that it would be okay, but it was not a yes and it was not okay. It is hard for me, I touched a sensitive point."
Etti Levi said that she considered the possibility of using surrogacy, but could not realize it due to the financial costs involved in the procedure. "I did not make attempts to bring a child; I wanted surrogacy, but I did not have the financial possibility."
Later, Levi shared the insight she drew from the mistake she made and explained how much she regrets it today:
"It is more painful to know what a person is worth who has no continuation; it is the most painful thing. I am very maternal, I love children, I would have liked a child. When I was young I spoke differently, but today, from the height of my age, I speak differently. Thoughts, aspirations, and dreams at a young age are not the same dreams as now. Time passes quickly."
Levi also said: "Now I say that even if someone does not get married, she can do it. At least freeze eggs, do something so that you have a continuation. I didn't think about it, I was quite young and I didn't think much. Today I eat myself up over it. My mother was the most significant figure in my life. If she were alive, she would say to me, 'Why didn't you listen to me then? I told you.' That's how she would say to me."
