Protection Racket

A major public company in southern Israel pays hundreds of thousands of shekels to a security firm to fend off protection rackets, but reports that no guards ever show up at its facilities.

Despite a government decision, the Ministry of Finance has failed to attend meetings on combating protection rackets led by Itamar Ben Gvir. Two months after the pilot project was announced, no funds have been transferred to affected businesses.

Despite warning signs and a negative probation report, the court gave decisive weight to the principle of equality with other defendants in the case.
