The Police Investigation Department (PID) appealed the Magistrate's Court decision to conclude the proceedings without a conviction. The District Court accepted the appeal and ruled that even in a tense security reality, police officers are expected to "restrain themselves and act professionally." The officer was convicted of reckless and negligent conduct.
