A salmonella outbreak in the UK has led to 207 cases of infection, dozens of hospitalizations, and one death. The primary suspicion is imported eggs served in restaurants and cafes, but the source has not yet been definitively determined. Given that eggs imported from the West Bank are sold in markets without supervision, the question arises whether a similar event could occur in Israel.

The FDA has elevated the recall of 1.6 million egg cartons to the highest severity level due to salmonella contamination concerns. The products were pulled from shelves across several US states and major retail chains.

Following a commercial dispute, the M. Lesser company will stop supplying eggs to the Rami Levy Shivuk HaShikma chain. The retailer assures that there will be no shortage, as another partner will take over the supply.

One of Israel's largest egg marketing firms has notified the Rami Levy Shivuk Hashikma chain that it will halt supplies at the end of August due to a commercial dispute. The chain currently sells eggs below the government-regulated price.
