Rescue teams in Nepal have pulled two workers alive from a hydroelectric power station tunnel nine days after a glacier collapse. They are the first survivors found among hundreds of workers still missing following the disaster.

At the end of June, two brothers from Venezuela went to the sea near their home. 15-year-old Winder wanted to take their 10-year-old brother, Moises, with them, but he was grounded as punishment. "I kept insisting, but my mother just wouldn't give in," he told the British media. Eventually, he and his brother Davy went without him.

Rescue forces are struggling to reach hundreds of missing people following the most powerful earthquake recorded in the country, while the death toll has already risen to 132 and a night curfew has been declared in the disaster areas. Authorities have declared a national state of emergency due to fears of further building collapses.

At least five people were killed and 41 are missing following a fire on a ferry carrying approximately 250 passengers and crew. Rescue operations are ongoing.
