Zelenskyy Tells Piers Morgan He Feels Betrayed by Trump Amid Deepening Crisis
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy told Piers Morgan he feels betrayed by U.S. President Donald Trump over lifting Russian diesel sanctions and calls for new leadership.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said in a television interview that he feels betrayed by United States President Donald Trump, following remarks suggesting Ukraine should elect a new leader and a decision to lift sanctions on Russian diesel exports. Speaking to Piers Morgan on "Piers Morgan Uncensored", Zelenskyy criticized Trump for leaning toward the Russian side in the ongoing war, stating it hurts when an American president takes a single side rather than remaining neutral as a mediator.
Escalating Tensions and Sanctions
The deepening diplomatic crisis follows Trump's conversation with Russian President Vladimir Putin, which led to the lifting of sanctions restricting Russian diesel exports in a bid to curb rising global fuel prices. Trump personally blamed Zelenskyy for high fuel costs due to Ukrainian drone strikes on Russian oil infrastructure and called for new leadership in Kyiv capable of reaching a peace agreement with Moscow. Reports indicate Washington threatened to withhold intelligence and military aid if the attacks on Russian refineries continue.
It hurts when President Trump chooses one side, and not our side... We are not selling our country. This is not a business for us, these are our lives and this is our country.
Starlink Restrictions and Intelligence Concerns
Compounding the friction, Ukrainian officials reported sudden operational restrictions on SpaceX's Starlink satellite network, allegedly hindering high-speed drone operations against Russian forces. Advisers to Zelenskyy noted that military-grade service was blocked at speeds exceeding 160 kilometers per hour without prior notice, coinciding with growing political friction between Kyiv and Washington over battlefield tactics and energy infrastructure strikes.
