Prominent Israeli activist Yosef Haddad has announced he will lead an advocacy delegation to Hungary this weekend, despite recent security threats linked to the Iranian regime. The mission aims to counter hostile rhetoric surrounding the Israeli national football team's upcoming match against Ireland.
Advocacy Mission in Hungary
The delegation's departure follows inflammatory remarks by Ireland national football team manager Heimir Hallgrimsson, who accused Israel of genocide. Additional Irish players have also spoken out against Israel and questioned the legitimacy of the match.
Public outrage has followed the statements, raising security concerns over potential provocations and the politicization of the sporting event in Debrecen. Haddad's delegation plans to engage with foreign media, host briefings, and provide support for the Israeli squad.
"When Israeli players take the field under a vicious and false attack designed to isolate them, we cannot stand idly by," Haddad stated. "I am flying to Hungary to look the instigators in the eyes, shatter their lies, and ensure our flag is raised with pride."
Security Threats and Political Bid
Haddad, who recently announced his entry into politics as the number two candidate for the Amech Yisrael party, has faced severe intimidation. He recently disclosed threatening emails, reportedly originating from Iranian operatives, stating: "We will cut off your fingers one by one and dismember your body."
The Iranian Ministry of Intelligence previously placed Haddad on its official blacklist of hostile figures, prohibiting any contact with him from within Iran.
