Atreo Shares Surge Amid Potential Merger Talks Between Yelin Lapidot and IBI

Atreo shares jumped 7% on the Tel Aviv Stock Exchange, pushing the company's valuation to ₪950 million, following a financial analysis suggesting a potential merger with IBI Investment House. The anticipated move comes as Yelin Lapidot faces significant outflows in its provident fund sector, losing ₪18 billion in assets since mid-last year and managing ₪79 billion.

In August alone, the firm experienced a withdrawal of ₪2.2 billion, accounting for about 3% of its provident fund assets. Founded by Yair Lapidot and Dov Yelin, the investment house is currently seeking strategic avenues to stabilize its market position, with a share-based merger with IBI presented as a viable solution.

Strategic Synergies in the Investment Sector

IBI, controlled by Dave Lubetzky, Ido Kook, and David Weisberg, has seen robust revenue growth driven by mutual funds, independent trading platforms, and tech services. However, the firm lacks a provident fund arm, making a combination with Yelin Lapidot a strategic fit that could create one of Israel's largest investment houses.

"Yelin Lapidot receives inquiries from interested parties from time to time, similar to other leading investment houses. Currently, no deal is on the table," representatives for Yelin Lapidot stated.

Both firms maintain strong positions in private portfolio management, a growing sector boosted by the introduction of trust-based hedge funds in 2024. These new financial products allow management firms to share returns with clients, increasing profitability across the sector.
