Dr. Yolanda Yavor to Face Trial for Incitement to Terrorism Over Posts

Attorney General Gali Baharav-Miara and State Attorney Amit Isman have decided to indict Dr. Yolanda Yavor on charges of incitement to terrorism, pending a pre-trial hearing.

Dr. Yolanda Yavor, a biblical scholar, teaching fellow at Tel Aviv University, and prominent anti-government protest activist, was arrested approximately 10 months ago following two social media posts targeting Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. In her posts, she explicitly referenced the armed uprising in Romania that led to the execution of dictator Nicolae Ceausescu.

In one of the posts, Dr. Yavor wrote:

"The only choice before us is to be—meaning: to fight the traitor, the megaphones, the cursed collaborators, and his ragtag Freikorps militias with all our strength and by all means—or to cease to exist. Choose wisely, my brothers and sisters. There won't be another round. We said 'democracy or rebellion', remember? So, come on, rebellion. But a real one, imported from Romania, not from AliExpress-corner-of-Kaplan."

She concluded her post with the slogans: "Dictatorships are not overthrown at the ballot box," "Netanyahu is a traitor," and "They are coming to get you."

Sources close to Dr. Yavor claimed that the decision was politically motivated, stating that "the Likud party exerted pressure to have her prosecuted."
