Viral Video Sparks Outrage as Worker Forced to Climb 21 Floors
A viral video showing a construction worker forced to climb 21 floors with concrete blocks on his head because elevators are reserved for residents has sparked global outrage.

A viral video circulating on social media over the weekend has sparked widespread outrage and severe public criticism. The footage shows a construction worker forced to slowly climb 21 flights of stairs while balancing two heavy concrete blocks on his head.
The heavy load was placed on the worker because of a strict building regulation reserving all four operational elevators exclusively for residents while blocking access for laborers.
According to media reports, social media user Amit Singh shared the video on platform X, condemning the situation as a lack of basic humanity, as reported by India Today. The documentation triggered a wave of condemnations from internet users who described the treatment as degrading, harsh, and inhumane, with some comparing the working conditions to modern slavery.
Media outlets covering the incident noted that the video was reposted online after initially appearing on Instagram by a user named Dimps, who documented the laborer carrying the heavy load up the stairs. In the recording, the cameraman stated that the building has four functional elevators, but argued that access was strictly forbidden to workers transporting construction materials.
"Look, this building has four elevators, and these workers are not allowed to use them to carry goods up," Dimps was quoted as saying by India Today. "The poor workers climb the stairs all the way to the 21st floor. Is this how our country will progress? They have four elevators, and the poor have no access to them."
The video provoked angry reactions over the sharp contrast between the modern amenities of the structure and the harsh physical conditions imposed on the workers building or maintaining it, according to a report by Kannada Prabha. Many commenters argued that forcing a worker to climb 21 floors on foot with a heavy load exceeds exploitation and demonstrates a total disregard for human dignity and welfare.
According to TVBS reports, the original post was later removed from the Instagram account where it was first published. Although the documentation caused a global uproar, the exact location of the building and the full official policy regarding elevator usage on the property were not specified in the video.
