Winco Foods has pulled two types of ready-made bean dip trays from its shelves after discovering that pepperoncini peppers used in the product might be contaminated.

The recall stems from a viral TikTok video showing a dead mouse inside a jar of pepperoncini peppers. The decision followed a recall by the manufacturer, Mezzetta, which announced on September 26 the withdrawal of a batch of Golden Greek Mildly Hot Pepperoncini following the social media post.

The consumer warned her followers not to buy the brand, stating she found a dead mouse in her jar while preparing a Mississippi pot roast. Mezzetta stated it is working to remove the jars from shelves, cooperating with the FDA, and noted no illnesses or injuries have been reported.

This incident highlights growing attention to food safety and foreign objects in the supply chain. In 2025, consumer complaints to the USDA's food safety service regarding meat, poultry, and egg products rose by 40%, with foreign objects being the leading issue.
