Wave of Violence Claims Multiple Lives Across Israel Over Holiday Weekend
A young man was shot dead in Kabul, a woman died of her wounds in Haifa in a suspected domestic homicide, and dozens were injured in violent incidents during Yom Kippur across Israel.
A 22-year-old resident of Tamra, Muhammad Yasin, was shot dead Friday evening in Kabul in the Western Galilee. Initially reported in critical condition, paramedics pronounced him dead after evacuating him to the Galilee Medical Center in Nahariya. Police launched a manhunt for suspects and opened an investigation, confirming the background is criminal.
Crime Statistics in the Arab Sector
According to the Abraham Initiatives organization, 182 Arabs have lost their lives since the beginning of 2026 in circumstances related to crime and violence. This toll includes 173 citizens and 9 residents, among them 154 shot dead, 9 stabbed to death, and 13 women and girls. During the same period last year, 187 victims were recorded, marking a 2.6% decrease.
Domestic Incident in Haifa
Overnight, a woman in her 30s from Silwan died of her wounds in Haifa after being evacuated to Rambam Health Care Campus in critical condition with penetrating trauma. Her 28-year-old partner was arrested on suspicion of involvement, and police are expected to request an extension of his detention. Her body was sent to the Abu Kabir Forensic Institute for examination, with police stating that "all investigative leads are being examined."
MADA paramedic Muhammad Hazem described the scene on HaAtzmaut Street:
When we arrived at the scene, we noticed a woman in her 30s who was unconscious, pulseless, and breathless, suffering from penetrating trauma. We performed life-saving resuscitation efforts... and evacuated her to the hospital in critical condition.
Following her death, the Michal Sela Forum stated that holiday periods exacerbate domestic pressure, raising tension levels to dangerous peaks for women and children at risk.
Violence During Yom Kippur
Additionally, during Yom Kippur, 40 people were injured in violent incidents across the country, including a man in his 40s who was shot dead in Umm al-Fahm. Furthermore, a 33-year-old man was seriously injured in a violent incident in Beersheba, five sustained moderate injuries, and 33 were lightly injured.
