Threatening video against Yair Golan: The Democrats party demands protection

The chairman of The Democrats, Yair Golan, will petition the Supreme Court following the decision of the Advisory Committee for the Protection of Public Figures not to grant him security. In response, the party released a video featuring harsh statements against him alongside an image of a hand holding a gun and firing.
Yesterday, during an interview at the "Time for Decision: Democracy and Society" conference held by Ynet and Yedioth Ahronoth, Golan stated that, according to police assessments, the threats against him and against Gadi Eisenkot are identical.
"We are warning of the next political murder and intend to petition the Supreme Court over the abandonment of the security of Major General (res.) Yair Golan," the Democrats party stated.
The party's CEO, Omer Lubaton-Granot, has again turned to the chairman of the Central Elections Committee, Deputy President of the Supreme Court, Judge Noam Sohlberg, requesting that he order the head of the Shin Bet to provide security for Golan, after police raised his risk level to 4 out of 6.
In the letter, Lubaton-Granot cited harsh comments made by the Prime Minister's wife, Sara Netanyahu, against Yair Golan and attached a series of examples of explicit threats to his life, including death wishes, epithets such as "Nazi" and "traitor," and direct calls for violence against him and his family.
The Democrats party argued that the committee's decision to recommend security for Eisenkot while denying it to Golan exposes purely political considerations. They claim that providing security to Yair Golan would be an official admission that the campaign of incitement and delegitimization led by Netanyahu and his "poison machine" creates a real and tangible threat to his life.
"The responsibility for the security and life of Major General (res.) Yair Golan lies with Prime Minister Netanyahu and the head of the Shin Bet, David Zini. As long as they do not separate politics from the duty to protect human life, we will petition without delay to the Supreme Court with a demand to compel them to do so before the next political murder happens here," said CEO Omer Lubaton-Granot.
