The anarchy of the right-wing in the West Bank is receiving full backing from the government, which does not even try to hide it. The IDF is also warning about the situation in Gaza, where Hamas is regaining strength, and believes that another major security incident is only a matter of time.
The events of recent days in the village of Qusra near Ramallah are a mirror image of the anarchy led by the right-wing government in the West Bank. Everything that has happened and is happening in Qusra and other places in the West Bank is taking place with the full backing of the government. The Americans and European countries know this well.
By the way, the government is not even trying to hide it. Minister Amichai Chikli, the minister responsible for fighting racism, visited the illegal outpost of Tel Talpiot in April, whose members were the ones who carried out the attacks in the nearby village of Qusra. Minister Chikli encouraged the criminals who established the illegal outposts, telling them: "It is time to get weaned off the Oslo concept and terminology; what wins is sheep and agriculture, not declarations and talk."
In the IDF, there is frustration with the situation. All the ministers in the government, as well as Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, refuse to condemn the actions of the Jewish rioters and refrain from publicly backing the IDF in dealing with these events. Military sources state that they have reached a situation where the police cannot enforce the law in the West Bank: "To arrest a right-wing activist for violating a closed military zone, a rule must be met: he must have committed an offense of this type at least three times in a row," said a military source. He adds that in the Tel Talpiot outpost, there is a group of right-wing activists known to them, the police, and the Shin Bet for dozens of nationalist crimes, but they know that the security forces cannot do anything because they have backing from above — from the political echelon.
The IDF was forced yesterday to bring in the 51st Battalion of the Golani Brigade to secure the village of Qusra against the threat of continued Jewish terror activities. The battalion's soldiers, who fought for months in Gaza and Lebanon, were supposed to be resting. Now they are deployed in the village as a human shield against the Jewish rioters.
The policy dictated by the political echelon is not to arrest the rioters, so they were merely removed from the village. It is clear to everyone involved — the Palestinians, the IDF, the police, the Shin Bet, and the right-wing activists — that it is a matter of time, hours or days, until they return to the village and re-establish the illegal outpost, just like the 115 illegal outposts in the West Bank that the IDF is currently prevented from evacuating.
But the anarchy and lack of governance are not limited to the West Bank. In the IDF, they are warning about what is happening now in Gaza. In the last day, the IDF thwarted four terrorists, but one must listen to the words of a military source who said: "We are not carrying out operations to reduce Hamas's capabilities in Gaza, we are not carrying out operations to harm the command echelons, and we are not carrying out revenge operations, what are called Nili operations. All we are doing right now is hitting those terrorists who are carrying out or planning to carry out immediate activity against IDF forces."
The reality is that fighters in Gaza report that Hamas is regaining its strength. Aid trucks are pouring millions of shekels into the organization's coffers every day. The cessation of targeted killings has brought Hamas out to the streets; they are ruling the Gazans with an iron fist and continuing to strengthen. The IDF sees how Hamas is training and warming up, but due to directives from the political echelon, the IDF has returned to the days before October 7: it sees everything but tells itself a story — that what it saw, it actually did not see. The military echelon has been emasculated by the political echelon, and it is only a matter of time before the IDF and the State of Israel suffer a major security event in the Gaza sector.
The government's security policy is troubling and may lead to real damage to national security. Yesterday, a crisis with the American administration already broke out over the events in Qusra, which may leave Israel even more isolated in the international arena, potentially giving a tailwind to Hamas, Hezbollah, and of course Iran in their malicious plans. They only need the timing and the excuse.
