US Vice President Vance Demands Major Iranian Nuclear Cuts to End Conflict
US Vice President JD Vance stated that Iran must significantly reduce its uranium enrichment capabilities as a condition to end the conflict and reopen the Strait of Hormuz.

US Vice President JD Vance stated in an interview with Reuters that Iran must significantly reduce its uranium enrichment capabilities as a condition for any agreement to end the ongoing conflict. Vance emphasized that Washington will not accept verbal promises and demands concrete, verifiable steps regarding Tehran's nuclear program.
Negotiations and Hormuz Strait
According to Vance, the US and Iran have exchanged proposals in recent weeks aimed at ending hostilities and reopening the strategic Strait of Hormuz for global energy transit. However, President Donald Trump rejected Tehran's latest proposal, and Vance warned that military activity could intensify following the upcoming US midterm elections.
If you do not want a nuclear weapon, then why do you need fuel enriched to 60 percent?, Vance questioned, noting that any credible deal requires dismantling high-level enrichment infrastructure.
Decision-Making Uncertainty
Another major obstacle in the diplomatic process is the lack of clarity in Washington regarding Iran's internal leadership structure. While US officials maintain contact with Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian and Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi, uncertainty persists following the elimination of Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei at the onset of the war.
