Motorcyclist killed in accident near Sorek interchange
A MADA team that arrived at the scene pronounced the death of the 48-year-old man, who was injured in a single-vehicle accident on Highway 7. "He was lying on the road unconscious, with no pulse and no breathing," they recounted. Just this week, the death toll from traffic accidents crossed the 300-person threshold.
A motorcyclist aged about 48 was killed overnight between Thursday and Friday while driving on Highway 7 at the Sorek interchange. A MADA team was forced to pronounce his death at the scene.
MADA paramedic Gal Ganish and senior medic Meir Avivi recounted:
"They led us to the motorcyclist who was lying on the road unconscious, with no pulse and no breathing after being injured while riding. We performed medical checks, but unfortunately his injuries were significant and we were forced to pronounce his death at the scene."
Just this week, the number of people killed this year in traffic accidents crossed the grim threshold of 300 people. The past month of August turned out to be the bloodiest month of the year and the worst compared to August months in the last 22 years, as 44 people lost their lives in just one month.
An analysis by the "Or Yarok" association, based on data from the Central Bureau of Statistics and the National Road Safety Authority, shows that the summer of 2026 was the deadliest on the roads in two decades, with 122 people killed in traffic accidents. This is an increase of 4.2% compared to 117 deaths in the summer of 2025. This is the fourth consecutive year that an increase in the number of deaths has been recorded during the summer months. Also in the children's sector (ages 0–14), this is the worst summer in the last decade, as 12 children lost their lives, compared to eight in the previous summer.
