Another scooter accident on Israel's roads: A 22-year-old man was moderately injured today (Tuesday) after being hit by a truck on Sderot Giborei Israel in Netanya. Rescue teams called to the scene provided him with initial medical treatment and evacuated him to Laniado Hospital suffering from a head injury.

Evacuated to the hospital with a head injury

MDA reported that at 14:51, a report was received at the organization's 101 dispatch center in the Sharon region regarding an electric scooter rider who was hit by a truck on Sderot Giborei Israel in the city. MDA medics and paramedics provided the young man with medical treatment at the scene of the accident and evacuated him for further examination and treatment at Laniado Hospital, with his condition defined as moderate.

The main danger: head injuries

Electric scooter riders are particularly exposed to head and facial injuries, fractures, and limb injuries, partly due to the lack of a protective shell. A collision with a heavy vehicle can lead to significant injury even when the riding speed is not high. Even after an accident that initially seems minor, it is important to monitor for possible signs of a head injury, including confusion, vomiting, worsening headache, blurred vision, weakness, unusual drowsiness, or loss of consciousness. In the event of any of these symptoms appearing, one should seek medical attention as soon as possible.

Wearing a standard, well-fastened helmet can reduce the severity of head injuries. Along with this, observing traffic laws, adjusting riding speed to road conditions, and avoiding the use of a phone while riding are essential to reducing the risk of accidents. The circumstances of the accident are being investigated.
