Trump on Netanyahu and the Upcoming Elections
Netanyahu quickly responded on social media, writing that President Trump is correct. However, Trump declined to offer explicit public endorsement for Netanyahu ahead of the upcoming elections in Israel, stating that he is no longer involved in politics when asked if Israelis should re-elect the prime minister.
"I can only say that I am no longer involved in politics," Trump remarked when asked about potential election outcomes.
When questioned about Gadi Eisenkot and whether Washington could work better with him, Trump noted he had not heard bad things about the leader of the Yashar! party, but added a cautionary note regarding Netanyahu's political resilience.
Foreign Policy and Iran
Addressing regional security and the ongoing situation in the Middle East, Trump discussed relations with Saudi Arabia and the escalating threats posed by regional actors. He emphasized his commitment to defending regional allies, including both Saudi Arabia and Israel.
Regarding Iran, Trump reiterated his tough stance, telling Time magazine that eliminating the Iranian threat could be necessary to achieve enduring global stability and peace.
