US President Donald Trump sharply criticized the Nobel Peace Prize Committee's decision to award the 2026 prize to Navi Pillay, directing his frustration at the laureate. In a lengthy post on Truth Social, Trump wrote that nobody has heard of her except for the fact that she likely hates Israel, describing her as a liberal individual working at the UN while asserting that the United States under his leadership deserved the recognition.

Trump Claims Eight Nobel Prizes

Trump further claimed that he deserved eight Nobel Peace Prizes instead of one, citing his involvement in resolving eight global conflicts and wars. He listed disputes he claimed to have settled, including between Cambodia and Thailand, Kosovo and Serbia, Pakistan and India, as well as the war between Israel and Hamas and the confrontation between Israel and Iran.

South African jurist Navi Pillay was announced in Oslo as the 2026 Nobel Peace Prize laureate. While praised for her human rights work, the award has sparked international controversy due to past allegations regarding her stances and fierce criticism of Israel.

Criticism of the Nobel Committee

Pillay, 85, was awarded for her efforts to promote peace and international law, having previously fought apartheid, served as a judge on the Rwanda tribunal, judged at the International Criminal Court, and served as UN High Commissioner for Human Rights.

Concluding his remarks, Trump launched a direct attack against the prize committee and Norway, calling the decision an indelible stain and stating that the Nobel Peace Prize has been permanently tarnished by a handful of radical ideologues.
