NTA Metropolitan Mass Transit System has published the list of companies that successfully passed the pre-qualification (PQ) stage for the upcoming Tel Aviv metro infrastructure tenders. The massive project, valued at approximately 65 billion shekels, marks a crucial milestone for the country's public transportation network.

Qualified Israeli and International Firms

Among the approved Israeli companies are Electra in partnership with France's NGE Constructing, Danya, Oron, Tidhar, Shapir, Ashtrom, Kal Binyan from the Baran Group, Rimon, Eliyahu Ben-Ari, and Solel Boneh. In addition to local players, international consortiums from countries including the United States, India, Greece, China, South Korea, and France have been cleared to participate. NTA noted that the response significantly exceeded expectations, with companies from eight countries joining the process.

Tender Scope and Timeline

The pre-qualification applies to the INFRA 1 tenders, which represent the first phase of metro execution works. This phase includes heavy infrastructure labor such as tunneling, station construction, depots, and auxiliary systems divided into 11 execution packages. Meanwhile, INFRA 2 tenders focusing on systems, rolling stock, signaling, electricity, and operation are valued at an additional 30 billion shekels, bringing the total estimated project scope to roughly 95 billion shekels.

"The high level of international and local participation demonstrates immense confidence in the metro project, paving the way for the next critical steps in Israel's infrastructure development."

According to NTA's updated schedules, INFRA 1 works are projected to commence in 2028. Gradual operation of the metro network is slated to begin by the middle of the next decade, with full core network operation targeted for 2037.
